2 EPIRB-AIS devices will be 406 MHz distress alerting devices that contain an additional AIS transmitter developed using the same AIS-SART technology, where the AIS component is used as an aid in locating that EPIRB-AIS. 3 AIS Man Overboard (MOB) devices are now available as locating aids for persons at risk in the water.
EPIRBs. Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacons (EPIRBs) are radio distress beacons for use on all types of watercraft. They operate world-wide using the international COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system which has provided alerts resulting in the rescue of more than 50,000 lives since its inception in 1982 up to 2019.
The SART is normally mounted on a short pole on the survival craft. It is a transponder and only transmits when interrogated by a radar signal. The SART works at X-band frequencies only. It is activated by a radar pulse from a vessel and transmits a series of 12 short radar pulses on the same frequency.
We conduct several on-board services for the SART, depending on the Customer's requirement. With 70% of the market share for EPIRB, SART and SSAS, we can service, test, replace batteries & provide certifications. DGS approved service stations across Mumbai, Vizag, Chennai, Port Blair and Kochi.
1. The Tron 40S MkII will automatically release from the bracket, float to the surface and start to transmit when the EPIRB, in its bracket is deployed into water at a depth of app. 2-4 meters (6 - 13 feet). 2. Transmission will continue until the EPIRB is lifted out of the water, and dried off.
EPIRB stands for emergency position-indicating radio beacons. they are self contained radio beacons. They can be activated either manually (by pressing a button) or automatically (when they float free of a sinking vessel). They should only be set off in a distress situation. Once set off they transmit a coded message (not voice) to satellites
